161 years ago, Da Nang's army and people under the command of famous generals Dao Tri, Le Dinh Ly... and especially famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong held back and caused damage to the French-Western invasion coalition. Spain, failed the 'quick attack and quick victory' plot of this expeditionary force right in Da Nang. Victory is one of the most beautiful pages in our nation's history of resistance against the French in the second half of the 19th century.. 

Since that victory, the image of Thanh Dien Hai and famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong are always mentioned as heroic symbols. The special National Monument of Dien Hai Citadel and the statue of famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong in Da Nang are places for generations to remember and preserve. 

On this occasion, Da Nang Museum organized the introduction of cannon artifacts recently discovered on the coast of Hoa Hiep Nam ward, Lien Chieu district on May 23. This is the first bronze cannon found in Da Nang after 161 years since the beginning of the resistance against the French. 

According to Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of Da Nang Museum, the activity has a propaganda meaning, highlighting the significance of the historical victory of Da Nang's army and people in the early days of resistance against the French; Raise the spirit of fighting against foreign invaders to the public about the heroic history of our ancestors; Promoting the precious tradition of 'Drinking water, remember its source', 'Repaying gratitude' of the Vietnamese people and raising the sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors and especially the young generation in the work of building and protect the Fatherland.
